Stair Island is one of the islands of the Southern Arc Islands. It lies in the southern half of the archipelago. Relative to the other islands in the nation/archipelago, it is a medium-sized island. It is best known for its volcanic/geothermal features, include many springs and geysers, and the stair-shaped terraces from which the island takes its name. The largest settlement on the island is Quartztown.
