Silver Island is one of the islands of the Southern Arc Islands. It lies in the southern half of the archipelago. The largest settlement on the island is Silver Harbour, which is an independent city (it has its own district, the Silver Harbour District). The rest of the island falls under the Outer Silver Island District. The island is named for the fact that there is silver on the island, and the large pebble beaches covering most of its shores (which have a silver/grey appearance). The island holds the nation's only official, operational mines.
