Location of Gold Island

The location of Gold Island within the nation.

Gold Island is one of the islands of the Southern Arc Islands. It lies in the southern half of the chain, and is one of the Metal Islands. There are mines on the island, but, unlike the mines on the nearby Silver Island, none of them are currently legally functional. Some ran out and others were closed more recently due to health concerns. Unlike Iron Island, however, the island did not suffer a great decline in population after the closure of the mines. This is mostly due to Saint Francis, an independent city, which functions as a religious hub because it holds the Saint Francis Cathedral, the largest cathedral in the nation. The independent city area falls under the Saint Francis District, and the rest of the island under the Outer Gold Island District.
