Nelson began his footballing career in mid-2009 at the youth academy of Silver Harbour FC, and after developing well was promoted to their main squad in 2010. He quickly became a prominent player, and was bought in mid-2012 by Patriam club Yellowtown Sulphurs, where he has played since. At Yellowtown Sulphurs, Nelson has been an important player, and also a quite proficient goalscorer.
Nelson played for the Southern Arc Islands national under-20 football team in 2010 and 2011. He made his debut for the Southern Arc Islands national football team in 2011 at the 2011 Worldwide Cup, but after his move to Patriam he fell off the radar of the national team, and as of September 2015 he has not played for his country since the 2012 Worldwide Cup.
